Which Hair Mask to Choose for Damaged Hair? Check Best Products I Used

Do you want strong and healthy hair without frequent in-salon treatments? Let me share a secret. You can get the effect by using hair masks yet not just any masks. They must contain strengthening proteins and other deeply-working ingredients. It’s the easiest way.

Damaged hair? Not a problem!

Even very weak, brittle or splitting hair can be fixed at home. I’ll show you what to choose to make your hair-repair routine run more smoothly and – what’s probably the key thing – bring the desired effect. No magic is gonna fix your strands. Success depends on what you choose – a good product or the first mask you see at the store. I definitely recommend reaching out for tried and trusted treatments.

Which hair masks work best on damaged hair? See my top picks

1. NANOIL KERATIN HAIR MASK

NANOIL KERATIN HAIR MASK

The best hair mask I’ve ever used. There’s a reason why I rate it the highest – it gave me the best effects, contains the most effective hair-enhancing ingredients and has a hair-friendly texture. All this for a good price. What is the mask made from?

Nanoil Keratin Hair Mask combines panthenol (provitamin B5) with hydrolyzed keratin, which is one of the proteins with the best effect on hair. The product also includes silicones for smoother hair and easier styling but they’re lightweight and easy to rinse out, not weighing strands down. All components are infused into a pudding-like mask that envelopes the hair, giving smoothness, resilience and softness. The product takes just one use to show such an effect. Hair is free of frizz or static. Still, the best results come after around two weeks – hair health, repair and enhancement.

It’s my number-one hair treatment and I recommend it with a clear conscience to anyone whose hair is damaged. Nanoil Keratin Hair Mask will help you for sure.

2. MACADAMIA NATURAL OIL DEEP REPAIR MASQUE

My list must include an oil-based treatment as I love to use natural oils on hair. I found a cool blend of oils in a hair mask from Macadamia.

You can easily guess that the Macadamia Natural Oil Deep Repair Masque is rich in macadamia oil, but also argan oil, and tea tree oil which has a very beneficial effect on the scalp. The extra ingredients are seaweed extract and deeply-hydrating aloe leaf juice. Though it doesn’t contain any proteins, it does help repair damaged hair thanks to argan nut oil having an extra protective effect. It prevents future damage from heat styling or blow drying. Still, you’ll need to wait for the benefits because this mask doesn’t improve the hair right away. When used regularly, it will make hair easier to style, moisturize and nourish it, and improve its appearance, restoring shine. It has a very thick texture.

3. KIEHL’S OLIVE FRUIT OIL DEEPLY REPAIRATIVE HAIR MASK

The next item is higher priced but it’s really worth testing if you like thick, creamy and oil-rich treatments. Once it was my favorite but now I’m more into lighter masks.

What’s inside a white and simple packaging with an olive-colored writing? As the name suggests, it’s olive oil, plus avocado oil (one of the oils that’s the richest in vitamins). Because Kiehl’s Olive Fruit Oil Deeply Repairative Mask isn’t overloaded by additives, it works well on weak, dehydrated hair that needs strengthening. The product doesn’t hold keratin so I’m not sure it’ll handle extremely damaged hair but it’s still one of the best masks I’ve tried so far. It makes the best choice in the summer because it protects against sun damage and fading hair color from UV.

4. GOLDWELL KERASILK CONTROL MASK

Let’s go back to treatments containing keratin. Apart from the Nanoil Keratin Hair Mask (which is my favorite), you can try the Goldwell mask which is also rich in proteins. I used it around a year ago and liked the effect. What makes it stand out?

The Goldwell Kerasilk Control Intensive Smoothing Mask combines two types of proteins – keratin and liquid silk. In other words, the effect is boosted and, in turn, smoothing and styling unruly hair is much easier. The mask took control of my hair which has always been prone to frizz and static. Another good thing is it protects the hair color so I recommend it if you color-treat your tresses. Just be careful if your hair isn’t extremely damaged because such a high content of proteins may end up badly.

5. WELLA PROFESSIONALS SP LUXE OIL MASK

Stay tuned! Here’s another terrific oil-based treatment – Wella Professionals Mask from the SP LUXE OIL line (you can try other products too). As befits a popular salon brand, Wella made a very good hair mask.

As far as the formula goes, it’s a typical oil-based treatment, including three most popular oils for hair: argan, almond and jojoba. They work by nourishing and revitalizing the hair, as well as prevent loss of water and act as a protective shield. Still, it’s keratin  – an additional ingredient in the mask – that repairs and strengthens. To me it isn’t the best mask for damaged hair but it manages to enhance weak strands, plus helps detangle hair after washing. Tbh, I wish it did more for such a high price.
