By looking at the messages you’ve sent me I realized that many of you have couperose skin – more than I expected. Having sensitive skin that reacts with irritation to almost everything it’s in contact with is a real pain in the neck. The good news, however, is that we have some skincare products at our disposal that not only bring relief to the stressed-out skin but they are also able to make it strong enough to fight off aggressors. Before presenting to you my suggestions and products that – in my opinion – are incredibly good and bringing relief, let me first characterize couperose skin – just to avoid misunderstandings.
What’s couperose skin?
If your skin is very delicate and sensitive, when it turns red whenever you eat some spicy food or when you move from some cold environment to a warm one (or the other way round), this means – actually, it’s highly possible – that your skin is couperose. Other signs indicating that you deal with this demanding skin type are broken capillaries – the dilated blood vessels that spread over cheeks and chin, sometimes appearing even around the nose. There is yet another indicator of couperose skin – erythema.
What causes couperose skin?
How does it happen that skin is couperose, hence redness-prone? Well, this skin type is genetic. We simply “inherit” it from our parents and grandparents. Sometimes it’s caused by hormonal imbalance, other times your skin may become couperose because you’ve gone through some extremely stressful period in your time.
Remedies for couperose skin
But don’t worry! There are some skincare products destined to bring relief and soothe easily-irritated skin. They deal with irritation and reduce the appearance of enlarged blood vessels that show through the epidermis, causing facial redness. And these wonderful cosmetics are face serums.
Here is my personal list of anti-redness and soothing face serums that worked for my skin like a charm. I’m sure they will work for you too.
NANOIL ANTI-REDNESS FACE SERUM FOR COUPEROSE SKIN
I’m currently on my second bottle, so let this be the proof that I really like this face serum. It has 1.69 fl. oz / 50 ml which basically means that you can apply it even twice a day and still carry on using it for a few long months. Nanoil Anti-Redness Face Serum penetrates skin quickly and has a pleasant smell which I think is owed to the linden extract. Another constituent that you can find in Nanoil is horse chestnut extract that strengthens blood vessels, reducing the appearance of spider veins on the face.
Since the day this serum became an essential part of my daily beauty routine, I’ve noticed that my skin is calmer and more resistant to triggers. But the best thing about this product is that it soothes my skin the second I put it on the face. Even the price is okay which proves that an effective product doesn’t have to ruin your budget.

IS CLINICAL PRO-HEAL SERUM ADVANCE+
Here’s an innovative serum destined for couperose, mature and acne-prone complexions. To be honest with you, I’m not surprised why iS Clinical Pro-Heal Serum Advance+ is loved by celebrities from all over the world. This soothing product proved to be a true multi-tasker. It freed me from the recurring problem of skin inflammation, minimized the appearance of spider veins and dealt with erythema. Along with that, this serum made my skin resistant to external aggressors so it’s no longer as delicate and sensitive as it used to be. In addition, I noticed my skin being more elastic, firm and healthy-looking. I know that I couldn’t enjoy these marvelous effects if it wasn’t for the amazing formula.
Pro-Heal Serum Advance+ has vitamin C, E, retinol, arbutin and several plant-derived extracts. I also like the fact that you need to use just a few drops per application, which is really relieving after you see how much this product costs.
PCA SKIN ANTI-REDNESS SERUM FOR COUPEROSE SKIN
If your skin is hyper-reactive and affected with rosacea, then I think PCA Skin Anti-Redness Serum may be your go-to. Even though my skin is free from rosacea, I used this serum and I was highly satisfied with the results. It leaves my skin calmer and even-toned the moment I apply it. I can also feel a very pleasant cooling sensation that follows shortly after. After a few uses I noticed my skin being more hydrated which, I believe, is due to the extracts taken from red and brown algae.
This serum’s texture resembles gel and whenever I took too much of it, my skin had problems with absorbing it fully. That’s why I had to be careful to get the right amount. Even though this serum comes with a pump, I had problems with squeezing out as much product as I wanted. I think that I wasted a lot of product this way.
LA ROCHE POSAY ROSALIAC AR INTENSE
I won’t lie, I’ve been using La Roche Posay cosmetics for years. I love their thermal water that is added to almost all their products. This means that Rosalic AR Intense isn’t formulated with regular distilled water but with water taken from natural springs. And they mixed it with plant extracts that are responsible for boosting couperose skin, which it clearly does, except one thing – it doesn’t eliminate the problem of spider veins. La Roche Posay Rosalic AR Intense nourishes and soothes skin but I don’t think it fixes the core of facial redness.
The texture resembles a regular face cream but it’s somehow less thick, thus spreading easily. As for the downsides, I’m not sure if using this serum in the morning makes a good idea. Why? Because it doesn’t work well with makeup – but it works wonders when applied at bedtime! This is a budget-friendly cosmetic that comes in a 1.40 fl oz / 40 ml packaging.
EXUVIANCE ANTIREDNESS CALMING SERUM
This one has a great formula! Just take a look: horse chestnut, algae, licorice and even white tea extract! Once I saw this list of ingredients, I thought that a product containing so many natural ingredients must be brilliant. And you know what? It is! First of all, this calming face serum eliminates irritation and removes redness from the face within a few seconds. Over time, spider veins and erythema get brighter and the skin becomes less sensitive. There is just one small downside that I noticed – Exuviance’s serum creates an oily feel on my face. It absorbs slowly and that’s why I feel it lingering on my face long after application.
Of course, this also means that I wouldn’t recommend it to be used prior to doing makeup, but you can use it at bedtime, right? Despite its texture, I find Exuviance Antiredness Calming Serum a really good skincare product.
DERMALOGICA UTRACALMING REDNESS RELIEF ESSENCE
And here’s the last anti-redness face serum that I’d like to recommend to you. Ultracalming Redness Relief Essence has a pleasant creamy formula that caused me some difficulties with spreading it evenly on my skin. I hate that it doesn’t have any applicator which means that I always ended up pouring too much product into my palm – but maybe you won’t have this problem. But when you finally put a portion of this serum to your face, you can feel how soothing it is! In no time does it remove puffiness and redness.
The key ingredients are licorice extract and vitamin E that serve couperose skin really well. I also like that this serum is available in two sizes: 1.69 fl oz / 50 ml and 5.07 fl oz / 150 ml. I think that you can order the bigger bottle because Dermalogica Ultracalming Redness Relief Essence is really good.
Relaxed and calmer skin
I hope that I helped you choose the right soothing serum for your couperose skin. As you can see, all of the products I’ve mentioned have many benefits for easily-irritated skin. So, go ahead and have a go at Nanoil, La Roche Posay, Exuviance or other products that you like. I can’t wait to read your comments 🙂 And if you use some other face serums for couperose skin, leave their names in the comments section as well. Maybe I’ll give them a try too.
Thanks for reading this long post and enjoy the rest of your day 🙂 Till next time!
