That’s what I thought, but then my hairdresser told me about heat protectant sprays – many of them not only have anti-heat properties but also deliver hold and tame frizz. They’re easy to use. What makes them different from regular hairsprays is application before heat styling – blow-drying, flat-ironing, curling, etc. I’ve already tested many products and know the best ones.

FIRST: Nanoil Heat Protectant Spray
Nanoil Heat Protectant Spray has been my favourite for a long time and I’m sure nothing’s gonna beat it! Recently I had to restock because I use the spray every day, sometimes reapplying it a few times. However, one bottle lasts really long despite daily application.
The list of ingredients is short. The formula is based on water. Hydrolyzed silk proteins are the major component which enhances the appearance of hair as well as strengthens it. Thanks to silk, the hair becomes softer, smoother and more glossy as soon as the spray is used. Naturally, the protection matters the most – with this product, it’s up to 430 degrees. Nanoil Heat Protectant keeps my hair lovely for many hours, even the curls stay bouncy all day. Beyond that, it works as a sun protection filter so it’s good to take it to the beach. Stopping the hair colour from fading is another great benefit. As a person who has colored hair, I make use of the spray’s all properties.

SECOND: Kevin Murphy Ever Smooth Spray
Another multitasking product that I love. Its performance is activated by heat from blow-dryers, curlers or straighteners. It’s best to use it on wet hair. First it works by creating a filter against high temps. Then, it works as a traditional hair spray which perfectly holds a style in place – without leaving it stiff. Similarly to my number one, Kevin Murphy Ever Smooth Spray prevents frizz which is a common problem. This product always produces good effects.
It’s easy to use, however, the 150-ml bottle doesn’t last long, especially when it’s used every day. Kevin Murphy’s products aren’t budget-friendly and this spray costs a lot too.
THIRD: Philip B Thermal Protection Spray
The last one on my list of favourites. It’s amazing for holding a hairstyle for many hours and smoothing it. I like to use it before flat-ironing, blow-drying and creating some hairstyles. For curls I prefer Nanoil or Kevin Murphy, but Philip B Thermal Protection Spray is good when I want smoothness to last. What I love about this one is the amazing shine right after use. It’s really impressive. Many users like the scent which stays long. To me it’s too intense. Naturally it depends on the individual preferences.
We can choose between two sizes: 60 or 125 ml. I picked the smaller one and it was a good choice. I only use it when I take it with me and travel. I like the above items more.
