My Top Vitamin C Face Serums. Which One Do I Find the Best?

Vitamin C face serum is, I guess, the most important cosmetic in my bathroom. I believe some of you see eye to eye with me on that issue. After all, the effects a serum is able to produce, which is brighter and smooth skin, freed from wrinkles and pigmentation spots, are really spectacular. When stabilized and delivered in the form of a face serum, vitamin C makes your skin impeccable. Within a month, your complexion will become brighter, even-toned and clear – just pick the right product and use it on a daily basis. But which vitamin C face serum is the best one?

This absolutely essential vitamin C in skincare

Vitamin C is one of the cosmetic ingredients that was subjected to and underwent numerous clinical tests. Cosmetic industry has been using this nutrient for quite some time and it’s still one of the most common ingredients wielding huge power. Interestingly, there is no alternative to vitamin C, meaning that this nutrient can’t be replaced with any other substance. Neither its effects can be compared to what other substances are able to produce.

Moreover, vitamin C is proven to suit skin of all ages and types. This amazing quality makes it a universal cosmetic ingredient. Interestingly, skin needs this nutrient to function properly and remain good-looking. Last but not least, it’s worth realizing that we – humans – aren’t able to synthesize vitamin C in our bodies. This means that we need to deliver vitamin C to our skin on our own by, for example, introducing a vitamin C face serum to the daily skin ritual. This is one of the easiest ways to maintain sufficient vitamin C levels in skin.

Properties of vitamin C

As mentioned before, vitamin C is a really powerful and potent cosmetic substance. It’s impressive that with just one substance you can get so many skin benefits. What in particular can you get? Vitamin C

  • is a strong antioxidant that fights off free radicals
  • strengthens walls of capillaries
  • reduces facial redness
  • deals with the adverse effects of UV (note: the more skin is exposed to the sun, the quicker the levels of vitamin C are dropping)
  • promotes cell turnover, revealing new skin
  • brightens skin and erases pigmentation spots
  • stimulates collagen production in skin, dealing with sagging
  • combats inflammation and fights off acne
  • manages sebum production

As you can see, vitamin C is able to do many things. And to experience these benefits, I suggest getting yourself some good face serum enriched with this nutrient. To help you with that, I’m going to tell you which serums worked for me.

Top Vitamin C Face Serums Promoting Bright and Clear Complexion

MY FIRST CHOICE: Nanoil, Vit. C Face Serum

After looking at the list of ingredients, I knew that this serum is worth buying. It contains 3-0 ethyl ascorbic acid which currently is the finest form of vitamin C. It penetrates deeply into the skin to improve it from the inside. I also noticed that Nanoil Vit. C Face Serum has an antioxidant extract taken from Punarnava. This Asian plant is also known for its brightening effect and, just like vitamin C, it makes skin younger and even-toned. Then I checked its size and to my surprise it has 1.69 fl. oz, which isn’t a common thing. Most face serums have either 1 oz, or even less than that. And it gets even better after realizing that the price is reasonable. That’s why everybody can afford Nanoil Vit. C Face Serum and get youthful-looking and rested skin with no wrinkles and no blemishes. Let me just add that you can use this serum prior to doing makeup because it doesn’t create an oily feel on the face.

MY SECOND CHOICE: Obagi, Professional C Serum 20%

Obagi is my gem, a serum that I loved with all my heart and used really often. Even though it satisfied the needs of my skin, I cried a little every time I had to buy it – it costs a lot! I know Obagi Professional C Serum 20% doesn’t have the latest form of vitamin C, yet somehow it’s able to deliver stunning results. In my opinion, it leaves skin better-looking, so there’s nothing to complain about. The serum suits everyone, including mature skin. Containing a huge portion of antioxidants, this brightening serum is good at delaying ageing. I tended to apply Obagi Professional C Serum 20% at bedtime because I found the formula a little bit too heavy. But when I woke up, my face was always smooth, rested and radiant. To me, Obagi Professional C Serum 20% is a really good face serum offering a big portion of vitamin C.

MY THIRD CHOICE: Ole Henriksen, Truth Serum

Correct me if I’m wrong but Ole Henriksen isn’t a very famous brand, is it? And that’s a pity because it makes really good cosmetics, especially Truth Serum. Although it’s not formulated with the best vitamin C, it manages to deliver the promised results. Sadly, it doesn’t come cheap. If you think that the serum is more expensive than others because it offers more product, then you’ll be disappointed. Ole Henriksen Truth Serum comes in a regular 1 oz bottle. But let’s focus on the positives! You’ll love this serum for offering a large portion of collagen that reduces wrinkles and slows down ageing. Aloe leaves skin moisturized and nourished. Orange extract revitalizes the skin and promotes cell turnover. Regular application reveals perfectly-looking skin.

MY FOURTH CHOICE: La Roche-Posay, Pure Vitamin C

This is an affordable brightening serum that targets dull and tired-looking skin. La Roche-Posay Pure Vitamin C face serum brings back radiance, and it doesn’t even need much time for that. It’s formulated with a large dose of pure vitamin C (it’s not stabilized though). It also has salicylic acid that promotes cell turnover, as well as a quite unique ingredient: neurosensine peptide responsible for slowing down aging, improving elasticity in skin and relieving irritations. I do like its fresh and non-greasy texture. La Roche-Posay Pure Vitamin C absorbs into the skin pretty fast, increasing hydration noticeably.

Are there more brightening face serums that you should consider trying?

For now these are all brightening face serums that, in my opinion, are the most effective in making skin good-looking. I think I can also suggest trying vitamin C serums offered by Sesderma, The Ordinary and Drunk Elephant. I know that many users like their products but they didn’t help me much.
