Skin aging isn’t all about wrinkles and creases on the face. It has to do with lots of other blemishes and imperfections as well. If you spotted first fine lines, be prepared for the occurence of other unwanted signs of aging skin. Check out what to expect and how to handle them.
Skin blemishes vs aging process
The condition of skin and the appearance of various imperfections depend on many factors. The most common ones include:
- wrong skin care
- regular, frequent exposure to the sun
- deficiency of vitamins and minerals
- sedentary lifestyle
- addictions
Skin imperfections & aging process
The above-said factors have a huge impact on the condition and appearance of the skin, especially skin which is labeled mature or aging. Apart from wrinkles which are characteristic for this skin type, we’re bothered by:
- very dry skin: an inseparable element of skin aging process. Sebum glands no longer work as efficiently so they don’t moisturize the skin like they used to. This in turns leads to dehydration, proneness to damage and more striking wrinkles.
- poorer skin’s firmness and thickness: when time passes, the levels of collagen and elastin drop. Skin is no longer as smooth as it used to be, loses resilience, sags. To make things worse, fatty tissue gets smaller so skin is thinner.
- slower repair and healing process: age and passing time make cells divide more slowly, cell metabolism is disturbed whereas skin healing takes more time.
- hyperpigmentation, open pores, redness, etc. Mature skin gets spotty more and more often, various types of impurities build up in skin pores, and the skin is reddish due to dilated blood vessels.
To keep the signs of aging at bay and reduce the blemishes at least a bit, remember to hydrate your body both from within (drink lots of water) and on the outside (moisturizers, nutrient-dense serums). Also, caring for the skin on a daily basis bears fruit in the future so use top-quality products, always remove make-up before sleep and treat your skin to natural vegetable oils which have antiaging effect e.g. argan oil.
